I’m embarking on a new journey, and I have no idea how it’s going to turn out!
To be honest I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Not that I would have resisted had I known. But when I jumped on a plane to Maui to meet an old friend of my boyfriend I didn’t anticipate embarking on a spiritual journey of energy work aided by plants.
A little background
In March of this year I received MRI results confirming what I already feared. I had severe damage to my lumbar spine. I would have to make some serious changes in order for me to return to normal daily activities such as walking, sitting and standing for more than a few minutes and moderate exercise. For the last three months I’ve been working with doctors and faithfully doing my PT. I was seeing slow but noticeable improvement. Until the day I got on a plane to Maui.
Re-injury sucks
I was in the middle of a small flair up when my low back just decided it had had enough. One jostle too many on a bumpy road and I was flat on my back for the rest of the trip. That’s where our host stepped in.
The Healer
I’m sure he has a real name but I just know him as “Spice”. My boyfriend had already introduced me to his YouTube channel where he gives monthly astrological readings. Being of Native American heritage he has spent his whole life learning to communicate with his ancestors which he contacts when he gives energy readings. He is both a psychic and an empath. He shocked me when, within 5 minutes of meeting him, he told me everywhere I was experiencing pain in my body. He said could simply read it in my body.
I trusted him because not only was he right, I can relate. I can do the same thing, but I’m not psychic, I simply know body patterns because of my work as a yoga instructor and massage therapist. I can tell if someone has anger problems or problems with authority or a broken heart simply from looking at them and/or touching their body and noticing muscular patterns. But Spice seemed to be on another level.
I set a time to have a one-on-one meeting with him where he would read my energy, my eyes and contact the ancestors for guidance on my condition. What he came up with was no big suprise to me. This injury is about energy.
Healing the root cause
I have known for months that this injury happened for a reason. In fact it is not happening to me, I did it to myself through years of energy I’ve taken on. As with most back issues this has been developing slowly over a long time. The injury first surfaced during my years of compulsive exercise. The reason for the exercise was to be thinner, because I thought thinner meant more lovable. The injury got worse when I began my quest to surf big waves. The reason for surfing big waves was because I thought it would make me somebody, somebody more worthy of love. This injury arose out of a lack of self love, a desperate search for approval, beginning in childhood with a mother who never approved of me. And still doesn’t.
Momma issues
Coincidently the most recent injury flare up incident on Maui happened right after a nasty text message battle with my mother, in which I felt completely unloved.
The new program
Spice says he can help me. He has been making plant medicine for hundreds of people for years. He has been hired by large corporations to listen to plants and describe their medicinal benefits. He says my energy is blocked and it is crushing my spine. He says I need to learn to smile with my whole body. He says there are herbs that can help. I agreed to hire him to put together a program.
Today I received my herbs in the mail. They included
- A formula for sleep
- A topical formula to move energy through the spine
- A custom herbal blend with approximately 75 different herbs. Many of the herbs have spiritual properties. Spice says he’s introducing little bits of light into my body
- A tincture called “frequency” intended to raise my spiritual awareness
There is one more component. An ominous looking unmarked bottle filled with dark liquid. This is what Spice calls the “Journey”. It is a proprietary blend of spiritual awakening herbs. I am not allowed to take this just yet. When Spice dreams me ready I will head off into the forest to go through what sounds like the most gnarly awakening I could imagine. I’m really looking forward to it!
