We were heading down Mex 200, when the road curved, hugging closer to the coast line. Suddenly there was a break in the jungle and we both craned our necks to the left as I hit the breaks.
It was like a painting or a postcard: A perfect horseshoe beach, completely deserted, in the middle of the horseshoe a perfect a frame peak peeled both to the left and the right.
We didn’t even have to have a discussion, we made an instant u-turn and pulled the car over.
We named the place “cannibals” since we were certain that the only reason that other surfers were not swarming such a perfect wave must have been that the area was inhabited by cannibals. We surfed alone for a couple of hours before packing up and heading back on our way.
